God of Mercy and Compassion Look with pity upon me (Hymn)

This hymn is so relevant for us all. Let us self reflect on how our sins affect not just us as individuals but Christ's body on this earth, HIS Church as well. Let us pray for pardon for our failings and for strength to get back into a state of grace.... God bless you.

What does it mean to be Catholic in today's world? There are many lies and distortions placed upon the Church by the world and the evil spirits that prowl it. So we must proclaim the truth loudly!

We must be a people of joy, a people of faith, hope, and love. We must proclaim our faith not only in words but in who we are and what we do, each and every day.

We are Catholic, and that means taking up our crosses, walking in the path of Christ, and loving one another while conforming our hearts to God's.

Relic of St. John Bosco (Don Bosco) at Mumbai

I visited the shrine and attended Holy Mass yesterday (14th Aug. 2011). It was a wonderful experience. He was the mentor and guide to St. Dominic Savio (my patron saint). Don Bosco's life is very inspirational and his good work continues through The Salesian Order and his institutions. A great human being and a great Saint.

Ave Maris Stella

A classic Marian Hymn, is the 'Hail star of the sea'. This recording is well sung. The first background painting is by Pompeo Batoni, and the latter two are by Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato. The Latin lyrics with English translation follow:

Ave, maris stella, Dei mater alma, atque semper virgo, felix cœli porta.
Sumens illud Ave Gabrielis ore, funda nos in pace, mutans Evæ nomen.
Solve vincla reis, profer lumen cæcis, mala nostra pelle, bona cuncta posce.
Amen.

Hail, star of the sea, nurturing Mother of God, and ever Virgin happy gate of Heaven. Receiving that "Ave" from the mouth of Gabriel, establish us in peace, transforming the name of "Eva".
Loosen the chains of the guilty, send forth light to the blind, our evil do thou dispel, entreat (for us) all good things.
Show thyself to be a Mother: through thee may he receive prayer, who, being born for us, undertook to be thine own.
O unique Virgin, meek above all others, make us, set free from (our) sins, meek and chaste.
Bestow a pure life, prepare a safe way: that seeing Jesus, we may ever rejoice.
Praise be to God the Father, to the Most High Christ glory, to the Holy Spirit honour, to the Three equally. Amen.

Sweet Heart of Jesus (Hymn)

Sweet heart of Jesus, fount of love and mercy, today we come, thy blessing to implore; O touch our hearts, so cold and so ungrateful, and make them, Lord, thine own for evermore. Sweet heart of Jesus, we implore, O make us love thee more and more Sweet heart of Jesus, make us pure and gentle, And teach us how to do thy blessed will; to follow close the print of thy dear footsteps, and when we fall - sweet heart, oh, love us still.Sweet heart of Jesus, bless all hearts that love thee, and may thine own heart ever blessed be, bless us, dear Lord, and bless the friends we cherish, and keep us true to Mary and to thee.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty. Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen, and in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all worlds, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten not made,
of one being with the Father, through whom (him) all things were made. For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Here I am Lord !

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.

Chorus

Here am I, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Chorus

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.

Chorus

I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my words to them.
Whom shall I send?

Chorus

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.

Chorus

Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

Chorus
